Helmi Prasetyo
Artist in Residence
Graduate at the ISI Surakarta, the Indonesian Institute for the Arts, Helmi is an active theatre artist with Petra, HBS, Jejak, Tera, Teater Gapit and Theter Ruang. From 1993 to 2001 he collaborated with master teachers and mentors such as such as Sardono W Kusumo, Suprapto Suryodarmo, Mugiyono, S. Pamardi, Jarot B Darsono, local dancers and choreographers in Solo and through Indonesia. In 2001 he joined Sardono W. Kusumo Dance Theatre, performing in Brasil and Europe. He collaborates as an actor with Rinkogun Theater and Phycical Theatre in Japan and as a director with Theater Ruang.
Helmi collaborates with dancers and choreographers, committed to opening possibilities of his work, to expanding his knowledge and experimentation in theatre and dance working with Sardono W. Kusumo, Mugiyono, Eko Supriyanto and most recently on the Iron Bed directed by Garin Nugroho at the Theatre Spectacle, Zurich Switzerland. Helmi performs as an actor in Garin Nugroho's 2009 film called Generasi Biru Blue Generation.
