Pacific Thought Symposium
Le Manogi
The Head of State of Samoa, His Highness Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese
The Head of State of Samoa, His Highness Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese will present the keynote address for this year's Pacific Thought Symposium
This project of the MAUForum, the Pacific Thought Symposium is a public stage for different views and practices, such as arts, science and politics, to provoke and propose new ways to grapple with Pacific thought.
Like the making of garlands, ula, and body-oil, fagu`u, the ideas espoused all emit fragrance - Le Manogi - which become lasting contributions to humanity at large. Like their creation, through the intermingling of different flowers and leaves, Pacific thoughts and practices function to inform and transform in spatio-temporal modes our seemingly fixed past and elusively, yet-to-take-place future, constantly yet consciously mediating them in the evermoving present.
In this interactive platform, the invited participants and presenters and audience alike will bring their knowledge and skills to interweave an investigative, communicative and transformative forum continuously albeit critically wrestling with a dynamic Pacific way of thinking and doing.
