Artist statement
Using footage of the wall being built by Israelis around the West bank, The Wall is an
installation that calls into question the underlying reasons for the divisions we make
and the relation between PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and cycles of
violence. Audio features the psychiatrist and trauma specialist Mark Brayne discussing
the ways in which individual trauma manifests itself on a national level. Brayne
suggests unprocessed trauma is the missing puzzle piece in understanding the ways in
which the abused become the abusers.
